WHO’S AFFECTED
Fast fashion can create health problems for people within and outside of the apparel supply chain.
Fashion FWD is focused on improving future health outcomes for these four groups:
CONSUMERS - Daily exposure to unregulated harmful chemicals in our clothing can be absorbed through the skin and even bio-accumulate in our bodies.
ENVIRONMENT - Hazardous wastewater from factories flows into rivers, streams, and other groundwater sources, which pollutes and contaminates community drinking water.
LOCAL COMMUNITIES - Communities around the manufacturing facilities and farms are impacted through exposure to polluted drinking water and exposure to harmful pesticides and herbicides as well as when chemicals enter their food chain.
GARMENT WORKERS AND FARMERS - The people who make our clothing often suffer the most as a result of daily exposure to harmful chemicals.
